River’s Sports Celebrate The jersey of the Greatest shone on different sports during a weekend to remember.

This week, the passion, the effort and the love for the jersey that River Plate athletes show each day achieved excellent results on different competitions.

With Rodolfo D’Onofrio present, the female volleyball team gave its first step towards the title of the Metropolitana on the Division of Honor. During the game that opened the final series, the young women coached by Martín Castro won by 3-2 in a great game against San Lorenzo. This Tuesday they will play for the glory in Boedo.

Hockey: in Los Polvorines and with the presence of the President of the Club, Las Vikingas classified for the first time in their history to the finals of the tournament of the AAHBA (Hockey Amateur Association of Buenos Aires by its initials in Spanish). On the semifinals, they defeated San Fernando by 2-1 and 2-0. This Thursday and Friday will play against the winner of the game between GEBA and Ciudad in the decisive series.

The AFA Futsal will also have River on the final game: El Millonario, who has just eliminated Boca and Villa La Ñata, won over Jorge Newbery by 6-1 and will play the ultimate duel of the Copa Argentina against Independiente.

On basketball, River keeps going further in the Torneo Federal and is the leader of its group once again. Last Friday, River defeated Estudiantil Porteño by 80-76 in Ramos Mejía and reached its seventh victory of ten games. This Wednesday it will seek to maintain its position as the undefeated local team by playing against Racing.

The male volleyball team, which came back to the elite national competition after eight years, had a perfect weekend in the A1 League: as a visitor, it won by 3-0 to Deportivo Morón and by 3-1 to Ciudad, and took all the points that were at stake. Thus, the team pursues its aim of getting to the playoffs.

On handball, River gave the first step in the Super 4, the last competition of the year. In Ferro, it defeated Quilmes by 29-20 and got itself into the semifinal stage of the tournament. Next weekend it will play against Unlu and will go for a place in the finals.

The female football competition still has River as the leader. This time, the Millonarias came through with a demolishing 10-0 in the classic game against Independiente. Thus it remains undefeated and on top of the chart.

Finally, the Senior Football, with figures like Ariel Ortega and other that once shown with the red band, will play this Monday against Almagro for the winning title as champions of the former players championship.

As history says, River’s jersey and the glory of sports still walk side by side.
