Intro Entry

Welcome to the first ever blog in english dedicated to River Plate. My name is Gabriel Rivero, I'm in charge of bringing the world of the Millonarios to the non-spanish speakers out there that visit our website daily. I'll do my best to keep you up to date with all of the relevant news, which these days is fast and furious given the current state of affairs at River.

I uploaded the frist ever version of La Pagina Millonaria (LPM) while I was studying architecture at the University of Arizona. That was back in 1995, during my Intro to Computing class. We were asked to write a simple web page in HTML (who does that these days?!) and upload it to the "World Wide Web", those were advanced techincal terms back then. Naturally, I decided to create a simple page / cyber shrine to River Plate. If I remember correctly, the first page had two headlines, lyrics to a song, and a few pictures. La Pagina Millonaria was born after pestering my good friend Mike Yu into showing me how to upload the page to the web. Never in my wildest dreams could I ever have imagined that humble class project turning into the website we have today. Of course most of that merit belongs to the guys that have worked on this site every day throughout these 12 years, principally my good friend and collaborator, Nahuel Pan, as well as LPM's first collaborator Tomas Lorsch. There are many others who have been a huge part of our success, most of whom are listed here.

Now I live in Jersey City, New Jersey, not far from The Onion Bag Soccer Shop (www.onionbag.com) which my English friend and I own. A few months ago I got hitched to this wonderful girl named Christine (I have to say that or else she won't let me use her laptop to write this blog! Thanks honey!)
