Nacional made the first dangerous move, courtesy of a long-range shot from Antonio Galeano; however, River Plate swiftly countered and took the lead around the 8th minute: a slick attacking move culminated in Miguel Borja’s precise right-footed low finish. River very quickly had a second scoring chance, with two consecutive headers in the rival’s box.

Nacional countered with an individual effort from Gastón González and a shot by Gonzalo Carneiro from inside the box that went high. In another River attack, Claudio Echeverri got the ball from Facundo Colidio, but keeper Luis Mejía denied him the second goal. Nonetheless, after a quick clearance, involving a triangle combination between Borja and Colidio, the latter set the score at 2-0. Earlier, Franco Armani had reacted well to a shot from Leandro Lozano.

The second half was off to a contentious start and was halted for several minutes due to a controversial foul by Lozano that required VAR review, though no players were sent off. Armani reacted excellently to a right-footed shot from González (Mauricio Pereyra failed to convert the rebound), and then Carneiro missed heading a cross from the left-hand side.

On another swift counterattack, Colidio came close to netting the third goal with a precise right-footed shot that narrowly missed Mejía’s left corner. Nacional seized momentum and leveled the score, courtesy of a penalty and a header by Carneiro. With this draw, River Plate remains the undefeated leader of Group H, boasting ten points and edging closer to securing a spot in the round of 16.
